Welcome. I am an English speaking psychologist working in Geneva.
Here you will find more information about my psychological consultation services for individuals and couples.
Here you will find more information about my psychological consultation services for individuals and couples.
My name is Anne Martine Verhoeven (1988), I am a Dutch psychologist providing psychological consultations for adults in Geneva, Switzerland.
I have been working as a psychologist in the field of psycho-oncology and clinical psychology since 2017.
In 2023 I moved to France to live close to the Alps, where I love to spend my free time.
I am a member of the Fédération Suisse des Psychologues (FSP) and of the Dutch Institute of Psychologists
(Psycholoog NIP ®).
My working style has been described as stimulating, efficient and solution-focused.
I provide people with the tools to better understand and regulate their thoughts and emotions and to handle their life situations.
I am experienced in the consultation of psychological difficulties, such as anxiety, addiction, trauma, depression, difficulties in adaptive functioning in ADHD, adjustment issues, and in relationship counselling.
I am trained in interventions and treatment protocols from various evidence-based therapy orientations, such as EMDR, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and the Gottman method.
Please contact me if you can't find your answer in the following list.
Research has shown that the most important predictor of positive outcomes in the treatment is the client-therapist relationship.
In order for you to know if I can help you and if you feel comfortable working with me, it is best to have a 15 min phone call (free of charge) to discuss your needs and situation. During this call, I can share with you my first impressions on what our work will include if we decide to continue working together.
The sessions will be charged CHF 140 for 60 minutes. I charge the same amount for online psychological counselling or for report writing.
My membership of the Fédération Suisse des Psychologues (FSP) may or may not help you to get insurance reimbursement in certain situations when you have the complementary coverage option and / or when you have an international insurance. Sessions will not be reimbursed by the Swiss basic insurance (LAMal).
Sometimes a referral from a psychiatrist or general practitioner can contribute to receiving (partial) reimbursement for the sessions. Please contact your insurance company to find out the specific rules and regulations, as this differs per insurance company.
Please note that you are responsible for full payment of my fees whether your insurance company agrees to reimburse you or not for a portion of the fee.
Psychological counselling calls for an active effort on your side for the therapy to be successful.
The number of sessions and the frequency of the sessions are dependent upon your personal needs and preferred outcomes. In general, I suggest people to have a minimum of three sessions.
In my experience one is able to measure the effectiveness of the sessions within four to six sessions, meaning that there will be a reduction of the feelings of distress or you have a better understanding on how to handle the stressors in your life.
I will not be able to work with people who are in an acute severe crisis, people with active psychosis symptoms, and/or people who have had more than two intensive treatments for personality problems.
